Clue’s Head of Policing & Gov joins techUK National Security Committee
Formed of 20 industry leaders from across the National Security sector, the Committee will provide a forum for debate around new and emerging technologies which present opportunities to strengthen the UK’s national security – and the vulnerabilities that threaten it.
Nominations and voting for the National Security Committee took place over the last two months, with an impressive number of the trade association’s members standing for the first election of its kind, according to techUK.
The current term of those successfully elected is two years, with the next elections scheduled for the beginning of 2025.
In October last year, Clue’s CEO Clare Elford was appointed chair of techUK’s Interoperability in Policing Working Group, focused on tackling data sharing challenges in law enforcement.
30 years in high-level law enforcement
Before joining Clue in 2022, Matt held the post of Deputy Director at the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Matt will bring to the committee 30 years of experience in policing at a national level, leading complex and high-risk operations related to serious and organised crime, counter corruption and security, cyber, fraud, money laundering and wider economic crime.
Commenting on the appointment, Matt said: “Working groups such as the techUK National Security Committee are very important as they enable a dialogue between industry and the important organisations that collectively safeguard our national security.
“I am delighted to have been elected to this committee and look forward to contributing to national security and resilience through my contributions to its work. I look forward to working with my fellow committee members and congratulate them on achieving their positions in the group.
“I also look forward to meeting our stakeholders in the coming months to develop mutual understanding, foster cooperation, drive interoperability and stimulate innovation in the field.”
