Community breakouts – a launchpad for 2023
When we consider the evolving nature of investigations, it takes all of us to imagine what’s possible.
Fortunately, we’ve found that Clue users get huge value from connecting with one another in person; everybody benefits from getting together to share challenges and best practice.
At our User Conference 2022, we invited all attendees to take part in some Community breakout sessions tackling pressing talking points, including:
- Sport: collaboration and data sharing
- Financial crime: evolving threats, investigation challenges and opportunities
- Safeguarding: collaborating to protect
- Case and disclosure: product development
- Data sharing: current practices and opportunities
These hands-on sessions proved popular, providing a chance for likeminded investigations professionals to begin exploring shared challenges.
Below, we’ve shared just a few key findings from each of these conversations which promise lots of opportunity to explore further in 2023.
Sport: collaboration and data sharing
Sports organisations comprise a fast-growing portion of our user base, with customers using Clue to better manage intelligence and investigations into corruption, match manipulation, doping and safeguarding concerns.
There was a clear appetite for a ‘common principle’ for comprehensive and accountable data sharing across sport, while ensuring quality and credibility with a ‘unified approach’ to intelligence grading.
Financial crime: evolving threats, investigation challenges and opportunities
Many organisations, especially in government and the public sector, are using Clue to help detect and prevent diverse types of fraud.
The impact of the pandemic, cost of living crisis, and rise of remote working and digitalisation has catalysed fraud rates and further knotted it with cybercrime. Attendees noted the prevalence of emerging threat types, such as dual employment fraud, and expressed a commitment to collaboratively addressing an ‘overlapping’ risk.
Safeguarding: collaborating to protect
Many of our customers use Clue to detect, investigate and prevent safeguarding risks to protect individuals across sectors including not-for-profit, sport and the public sector.
Comments from this diverse breakout group included the need for more unified structure around safeguarding practice, while a lack of resource can limit investigative action to high-volume incidents. Once again, the importance of effective data sharing was cited as a key objective.
Case and disclosure: product development
Case management and the process of managing materials for disclosure is a vital part of preparing for prosecution and trial. Clue has made significant ground in making this vital process more efficient and robust for users.
Our case and disclosure working group is an ongoing, engaged Community whose feedback and insights have directly influenced the Clue product roadmap. The ability to disclose and display more classification data and order items on a schedule are just a few examples of recent updates on the path to supporting a single best-practice approach to case and disclosure for Clue users.
Data sharing: current practices and opportunities
The ability to access and share data securely and seamlessly is crucial for investigations today. However, significant challenges remain in interoperability, resource, privacy, and trust, among other considerations.
This breakout group set out to establish the state of users’ data sharing capabilities, and how Clue can help to make the sharing of information between partners easier. Attendees cited the need to make data sharing ‘easier to do than not do’ and the need for more seamless data interactivity with partners outside of Clue.
